Derek McDonnell is a founding Director of Hordern House. He has been a rare book dealer since 1972 when, after finishing his degree at Oxford, he started another long learning curve at Blackwells, where he began specialising in early continental books. In 1975 he moved to Bernard Quaritch in London where he became a director in 1980, specialising in material relating to voyages and discovery with a particular interest in voyages and the Pacific. He first visited Australia in 1978, continued to visit frequently, and finally moved to Sydney in 1983. He and Anne McCormick set up Hordern House in 1985. More about Derek here.
