Books from a private collection. Part 10: Australia

This catalogue describes voyage accounts to Australia, and the history of colonial settlement and exploration. It includes one of the rarest Canadian exile accounts by Ducharme and two examples of an uncommon genre:  Australie. Un voyage à travers le Bush (1868), by Swiss settler & writer, Edouard Marcet, and the Marquis de Beauvoir’s Voyage autour du monde (1872), are both books illustrated by mounted photographs. These form part of the collection of a long-term client and friend of Hordern House, with a few additions; their collection has been assembled over several decades, with books acquired from ourselves as well as from other specialist dealers.
