Dumont d'Urville's language notes from the voyage of the Astrolabe, worked up for publication as the philological volumes for the huge account of the Astrolabe voyage. The first volume is devoted to the Madecass language of Madagascar, with extensive French-Madecass and Madecass-French tables. The second volume starts with vocabularies of the Aboriginal languages of King George Sound (Western Australia), Gulf of St Vincent (South Australia), Port Dalrymple (Tasmania), and Jervis Bay (New South Wales), followed by Maori-French and French-Maori and numerous other Pacific island language tables and vocabularies.
