Histoire de Botany-Bay, Etat present des colonies pénales de l'Angleterre, dans l'Australie, ou Examen des effets de la déportation, considerée comme peine et comme moyen de colonisation.

Paris: 1836.

Octavo, two folding tables; with the half-title; contemporary quarter green calf.

French examination of the transportation system: punishment, or colonisation?

First edition: a detailed history of the colony of New South Wales, from its beginnings to the present day, and a close and well informed examination of the colonial process. De la Pilorgerie quotes extensively from Bigge and other sources, produces tables of imports and exports, government expenditure, etc., and generally demonstrates the French interest in the colony which had continued from the early days of settlement and which still showed a fascination with the apparent success of the English transportation system.
