The splendidly executed photogravure plates feature champions of the Royal stables, legendary horses including Persimmon, Perdita II and her foal Nadeja. Portraits include HRH Edward VII, the equestrian advisor Lord Marcus Beresford, in addition to trainers and jockeys including Richard Marsh. The Royal Stud card for 1901 is reproduced in facsimile and included, announcing the availability of stallions Florizel II and Persimmon, with information on 16 brood mares in the possession of the King.
This copy is from the collection of Australian pastoralist Henry White, whose racehorses were acclaimed on the Australian turf (with winners in the 1896 Australian Jockey Club Derby and 1900 Doncaster).
