The book gives in beautifully-printed facsimile the very rare original Dutch edition of Gerritsz's collection of travel narratives, including the important printing of Quirós's Memorial to the King of Spain "concerning the population and discovery of the fourth part of the world called Australia, its great riches and fertility…". The three finely printed folding maps include the famous Gerritsz world map showing the discoveries of Quirós in the form of a very large Southern Continent below New Guinea and the Solomons.
This facsimile of the Dutch edition is followed by a typeset version of the Latin edition of 1613 and the English translation typeset as a separate work, with its own title-page (Ferguson records this last part as a separate work as 9885b, recording the work described here as 9885a).
Condition Report: Externally a bit rubbed and marked, otherwise a fine copy.
