Biography of Sir John Moore, commander of British forces in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars.

This account of Moore's military career was compiled by his brother James, following his heroic death at the Battle of Corunna in January 1809. Moore suffered horrific injuries yet clung to life long enough to learn he had defeated the French army under Marshal Soult. The present volume includes a detailed folding map of the Battle of Corunna, complete with much topographic detail, in addition to a second map of Spain. Appendices include correspondence with Wellington and other officers active during the Peninsular War.
