An ornate scroll and foliage cartouche enhances the appeal of this attractive map by Gilles and Didier Robert de Vaugondy, the Parisian geographers, who were among the leading French cartographers of the time. They were both appointed Géographes du Roi. This map was originally published as part of their Atlas Universel, which was issued in 1755 with 108 maps. The engraver of this map was Guillaume Delahaye.
