Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688-1766) and his son Didier (1723-1786), the Parisian geographers, were among the leading French cartographers of the time. They were both appointed as "Géographe du Roi". The engraver of this map was Guillaume Delahaye, one of the Delahaye family who worked for many of the great cartographers in eighteenth century Paris. He too was recognised for his outstanding work and received the honour of "Premier Graveur du Roi".

Not in Tooley; Parry, The Cartography of the East Indian Islands, p.190 and plate 6.13 (in strangely jaundiced colouring).
