Adelaide: no publisher, circa 1858.

Duodecimo pamphlet, as issued without wrappers, 12 pp. (last blank), blue tinted paper stock.

'England in miniature - England without it's poverty'

Scarce pamphlet printed to promote the colony. Anonymously compiled 'by an old Colonist', the booklet comprises various parts gleaned from several sources. First are excerpts from an article by Mr. Wilson of the Melbourne Argus who 'accompanied by a Russian nobleman, made a tour through South Australia… his report may be considered a faithful description of the present state of the colony'.

Then come statistics compiled from the Adelaide Register; including imports, exports, wage rates for various trades, land under cultivation, education figures and the like. The booklet concludes with some geographical information, including a description of the Murray River, and closes with passage rates for emigrants.
Ferguson records a copy held by the State Library of South Australia; another has since been included in the catalogue of the Mitchell Library, Sydney.
