Northern Territory Correspondence… 28th September 1866 [No. 80].

Foolscap folio, tinted, 12 pp.

A rich source of primary information on the early exploration and settlement of North Australia, printing despatches and correspondence from the Government Resident J.T. Manton, explorer John McKinlay, surveyor R.H Edmunds, and others. Of particular interest is the publication of the journal of Clement Young, described as 'clerk and accountant', covering the period November 1865 to July of the following year. It contains much detail of contact with local Aboriginal tribes, the progress of McKinlay, and the myriad challenges of landing and keeping stock in the tropics.
