Exchange of telegraphs between the Acting Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong and the Colonial Secretary of New South Wales concerning outbreak and quarantine of contagion: "Small-pox having been introduced here by Chinese recently arrived, this Government has by Proclamation notified that Hong Kong and all ports in China will be treated as places from which all vessels arriving in Sydney will be placed in quarantine."
