This edition includes the account of the Pandora's surgeon, Hamilton, which was first published in 1793 and is rare today. However, this work is particularly significant for the inclusion of the many reports and letters penned by Captain Edward Edwards, who was commissioned with orders to find the mutineers, and whose conduct was vilified in the eighteenth-century press. This was the first time any of Edwards' reports were printed, and as a result this is an important contribution to the study of the Bounty mutiny. It has not been reprinted.
