Drowned in the Wollondilly

Published as a memorial from the parishioners of Goulburn to their curate who was drowned age twenty-four when the Wollondilly river flooded in 1857. This volume was printed at St Augustine's College Press, Canterbury where Reverend Betts had been educated for the ministry. The volume begins with a brief memoir by the Rev. James Carter, Minister of Picton, a fellow student and brother-in-law of the deceased.

There are two manuscripts also enclosed. The first, dated January 1, 1884 is a handwritten note by James Carter, mourning the loss of his wife in the previous year. The second is a letter from James Carter to George Robertson, the publisher, dated February 7, 1893.
