The Australian Maritime Series is a publishing venture established by the Australian National Maritime Museum in conjunction with Hordern House, publishers and dealers in rare books and manuscripts.
The series makes available facsimile printings of important rare books which are either unobtainable today or which would sell for tens of thousands of dollars.
The selection of books for the series is made by the Australian National Maritime Museum. A scholarly essay written by an acknowledged authority forms part of each book. This introduction assesses each work and establishes its importance.
Each book is produced to the highest standards. Limited in number and hand-bound in fine leather, they form a handsome library of books on Australia and the Pacific. Number One in the series won the prestigious Galley Club of Sydney Award for Excellence.
