| Many of our recent catalogues have been very specialised, but this offering of 18th century voyage books is intended to be more like the larger catalogues of the past. With just under 400 entries, it is unusual to see this wide an offering between one set of covers, and this catalogue certainly provides a good general introduction to our stock. Separate chapters are devoted to, for example, each of Cook's voyages, Joseph Banks, Bligh, and La Pérouse, as well as further sections on naval technology, naval medicine, imaginary voyages, and the Pacific generally. The striking cover image is a very rare mezzotint engraving from the Bougainville voyage showing the Prince of Nassau, the dashing scientist and bon vivant who, much like Joseph Banks on board the Endeavour, accompanied the French circumnavigation.
