Hordern House's new representative in Europe
We're delighted to announce that Anthony Payne will now represent Hordern House in the UK and Europe.
Those of you who already know Anthony, who was for many years a Director at Bernard Quaritch in London, will know that he has decades of experience in the rare book market, dealing with rare book libraries and private collectors throughout the world, with a particular expertise in travel and voyage books. We are tremendously pleased to have him on board.
Anthony is also an historian and writer and he has contributed to several books, including The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, The Spanish Letter of Columbus (introduction by Felipe Fernández-Armesto, 2006) and The Oxford Encyclopedia of Maritime History (2007), and has lectured at Princeton University, the University of York, the Warburg Institute, the National Maritime Museum, and Gresham College. His major research project is a bibliography of the travel writer and editor, Richard Hakluyt. He has published Richard Hakluyt: a guide to his books and to those associated with him 1580-1625 and he is on the Editorial Board of the forthcoming Oxford University Press edition of Hakluyt's Principal Navigations.
Anthony will be on our stand at the London International Antiquarian Book Fair at Olympia (24-26 May).
He can be contacted on anthony@hordern.com
